This was a spectacular read! I had many moments at edge of my seat and not wanting to put it down. I will never forget this book. And I am continuing my journey in Arawiya with the second book. The banter is wonderful, the reluctant at first friendship group is just amazing. This is a series that will forever stay in my heart and my shelf for my household to enjoy again.

I will be honest. I expected more. I am once again disappointed by one of my most anticipated reads.
I was excited for some middle eastern rep. And don't get me wrong, I loved the use of common Arabic phrases throughout the book, but I feel this book could have been so much more.

You see, it started interesting, Zafira, a huntress disguised as a hunter. She is the only one capable of stepping through the evil, arz forest and leaving it untouched. But it soon turns slow with her character thrown into a mission to find a magic book. (which was random as hell. Why did she get chosen? I would like some more info about her so-called ability.) Accompanied by Nasir, who was sent to kill her in time, he develops critical thinking and uses his brain a little. Sure it had some exciting changes and character revelations, but it didn't deliver as strongly because of how late it was introduced.

Nasir infuriated me. Suppose I had to hear him complain about being a murderous monster undeserving of love and all fearing him, how he "is evil and serves to kill the innocent because baba told him to. Baba evil and I hate him, but I will listen to him. "

This constant reintroduction of Nasir's thoughts leading back to how monstrous he is is exhausting. "everybody fears me! No one would dare look me in the eye, and no one would dare defy me. I'm so lonely; everyone is scared of me because I kill the innocent. So sad, I am so lonely. But I am fearless and assertive. I have no remorse. but wait
Ooh, a pretty, strong huntress who is not scared of me, ooh, she's meeting my eye. Is this- is this love?"

lmao
I don't know why I'm being so bitter, lol.

A dazzling and magical waste of time. Cast is full of tropes and uninteresting, the world building is bad and just overall nothing pulled me to read this. Felt like a chore every time I picked the book up.
