3.5!
see i really like the premise of this book and i even will say that i really liked this book but the ending was so underwhelming :((
after the chapter that explained the start of it all i was so excited to read about their current romance but that just never happened :((
what i did really like however was how this book was build with the main story of wales being intertwined with flashbacks of their previous lives
i also really liked the fact that evelyn wasnt always a girl and arden wasnt always a boy that was such a nice surprise which i didn't expect
all in all this is a book you read once and you will enjoy if you have never read books with a plot like this before, if you have read a similar book it will probably not be the one for you :,)

I originally gave this book 2 stars, but upon reflecting on my feelings for this book to write this review, I find it hard to even justify that. Maybe 1.5 stars as I did finish the book.
This entire book rests on the hope that you just accept the fact that the two main characters are in love. Again and again and again the author tells you that they love each other, but nothing from their actions really makes you believe that. I kept reading hoping that something more would be revealed as it kept dragging out with little plot development, for something to actually SHOW me that they were these destined soulmates. The "big reveal" of how they got into this cycle of immortality is EXTREMELY disappointing and the ending left me so unsatisfied. It made me feel as if I had just wasted my time reading this.
I also personally don't like that this book has been marketed as an LGBTQIA+ novel. Yes, the two main characters are reincarnated into the same sex in many of their lifetimes, however the nuances of that and gender expression are hardly explored in the novel other than a few throwaway lines here and there.
The one saving grace of this book is that there is some very beautiful moments of writing/prose. If only all of the beautiful one off thoughts actually amounted into something....

A fun time! I think the comparisons to Addie LaRue set too high of a bar going in.
You definitely feel the YA vibe throughout the book. I would’ve loved more in depth character development and a less rushed ending.
But still unique and kept my interest.

It was a good little supernatural story with a great life moral. Though traveling to different past lives started to get redundant, I didn't expect a couple of turns toward the ending. Overall, glad I read it, but not one that made it to the top of my to read again list.
