I can’t help but be bitter that this series lost its luster after the first book. I also don’t understand why the last book takes place before the second book. I wish we’d gotten a continuation of the characters’ stories after book 3. It gets very repetitive after the first several time travelers, but I guess that drives home the point that most of us would want to time travel for similar reasons.
Nonetheless, it’s a great series for reflecting on loved ones who pass but stay in our minds always. The translation is wonderful, with built-in lessons on Japanese language and culture that add to the value of the series.

The 4th in this series is just as cosy and whimsical as the first 3 with the same sadness, regret and grief. I was not prepared for the story about the dog 😞
