Absolutely amazing! I’m constantly impressed by Martin’s characters and storytelling abilities.

Well, I expected that the war would have gone farther. Rather slow storyline and the bad guys' fate were better than the good guys'. And Arya's story are too much in Harrenhal, I expected that she would have gone farther to Riverrun or somewhere else. Not just wandering around in Harrenhal. For the interesting characters, 5 Star!

Even better than the first one.
I'm still happy that knowledge from the show didn't make reading the series boring. Don't get me wrong, I did not watch the TV show and don't plan on doing so, but it was popular enough to make me aware of certain things like
Spoilerthe Red Wedding and the death of Robb, Jon and many others.

Still I had many moments where I was tense and had no clue of what might happen next and moments of complete surprise, such as
Spoilerthe death of Renly, Theon taking over Winterfell and whatever the hell was that shadow-birth scene.

The beginning of the book feels weirdly hopeful, but by the end you are again reminded that this is Westeros and no one is safe. My only problem were the Daenerys chapters, they were kind of boring and quickly took me out of the story.
