I love Sharon Bolton, but man, this one just did not grab me. I didn’t get interested in it until the last hundred pages or so and that was just because I figured out the twists and was hoping she’d prove me wrong. She didn’t. And sorry not sorry, but the ghost aspect was super lame.

Two sisters go up on hot air balloon ride, shortly the balloon à crashes and out of 13, eleven are dead. Why is the one survivor on the run, and not looking for rescue. This thriller twists and twists again. Sharon Bolton is one of best thriller author out there today. And you should enjoy reading it.

Deceptively well-plotted. The author does a commendable job justifying each twist and turn of this outlandish mystery.

I had gotten this out of the library a while ago but had trouble getting into it. But the audiobook was available on Hoopla and to celebrate a NEW LACEY FLINT, I figured I should catch up on all of Bolton's stuff.

And this was a good time. The beginning is very action-packed and exciting. I did get spoiled about MoJo being dead, which meant it seemed obvious that Maldonado (?) was the corrupt officer. And I wondered if Isabel was our survivor, but it still surprised me!

I was so worried about Isabel towards the end, knowing that Ajax wasn't going to help her. But then her brother saved the day (I had wondered if he was the cop). Her brother who we believed had raped and impregnated her.

And then she met with him to...talk it out? Let bygones be bygones? Because "blood is thicker"? I was feeling physically ill. The idea that the person who saved her was a rapist who had taken advantage of his own sister was horrific. And I was really worried that's where we were heading.

But then it was her dad. Hoo-ray question mark?

The ending was a lot. But the book was a good time and I definitely liked it more than The Split so...high 3.

Though I feel like human trafficking for organs feels similar to the baby selling plot of another one of her books lol

I did appreciate Harry making an appearance, though.

DNF @ 25%. I feel like I'm in the minority here, but I just couldn't get into this one at all. I've been trying to read this book for weeks, and have only gotten a quarter of the way in, and one of my reading goals for 2018 was to spend less time forcing myself to read books that I'm not enjoying. The time jumps were confusing, there were too many characters, and I just wasn't connecting to any of it, so much so that I actually went and read reviews with spoilers just to figure out if it was worth continuing, and I've decided that I'm going to just stop here. Unfortunately, this one didn't work for me, but again, I'm clearly in the minority, so don't let this stop you from picking this one up.

3.5 stars-so close to 4! The book was fairly predictable but I still enjoyed it. There are a few turns in the book that made me roll my eyes but I flew through it. Ending was a little off-topic/silly/an afterthought?

Really enjoyed this one. Stayed up late reading it last night to nearly 1am, which is always a good sign when I'm willing to give up my sleep to keep reading. Will check out more of her work.
