Some of Churchill’s finest wordplay. Ghoulish and ghastly, the monsters in the Skriker stalk and shapeshift in words and form and would be a lot of tense fun to watch.

The writing of this play, specifically the lines of the Skriker, are written in a fascinating, jarring way that can be a little difficult to read, but adds so much to the atmosphere and unsettling feeling of this play. I adored it, though, and it's become one of my favorite horror pieces of literature I have ever read. As is much of Caryl Churchill's work, this is a uniquely female story as well and its entire plot revolves around the interpersonal relationships of the two leads and how the Skriker disrupts them. Its short, goes quickly, and is incredibly hard to put down.

played josie, really interesting concepts but takes a lot of work to decode and appreciate. also i had to do a fake british accent which i think tainted my relationship with it :,)
