It's always a good sign when I'm reading a book and I see that I'm close to the end and I don't want it to be done. In this case, I am so glad that there is a sequel to continue where this story left off.

Wes and Jamie are thd cutest. Realizing your sexuality can be really difficult and I think it was hard for Jamie to fully come to terms with how he was feeling because Wes was really his gay awakening and then that feeling became attached to someone leaving. It is really understandable that Wes felt like he was in the wrong or pressuring Jamie in those teenage moments because they're young and everything is new and they're both figuring out major parts of their identity and that can be very hard to navigate and confront. It says a lot about who Wes is that he carried that guilt with him until they met again and was reassured otherwise.

I hate how normal homophobia still is. I wanted so badly for the occurrences in this book to feel fake and not a reality but the truth is that I'm sure this is similar to someone's story in the world. The hockey world still has a long way to go and it really begins with changing the culture at camps such as the one Wes and Jamie coach at and I'm glad this book shows a future of positivity that can be a possibility.

I think I just wish that we got a little more emotional development or conversation because I felt like their relationship was highly sexual, which makes sense given the circumstances. However, I also know that they have built a relationship over years, so much of what we'd get in 2 characters meeting for the first time is unnecessary.

This was such a steamy fantastic read! This totally got me out of my reading slump. I loved both of the characters and their relationship progressed perfectly. I loved both how low angst it was and that they really loved each other!! I would recommend this to anyone it reminded me of game changers in the best way!
