I love every bit of how Backman describes the world through the eyes of his characters. His books make me a better person.

Britt Marie was one of my favorite characters from My Grandmother asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry. This book picks up at Britt-Marie’s story at the end of that book, but it isn’t necessary to read book books.

I loved how Britt Marie grew and dealt with how do you be seen for yourself not simply in relationship to someone else. How do you find the courage to move on and/or do new things/embrace your dreams?

I really struggled to get into this book. I found the main character really frustrating and unlikable at first. But it really picked up about a third of the way through and by the time I got halfway through, I was really annoyed when the digital loan of the book got recalled from my reading app on my phone. I had to wait 4 weeks to borrow the book again and I have to say the second of the book is so beautiful. I don't usually feel moved to write book reviews, but this book deserves to be talked about. Definitely a book I will recommend to others.

I am a big fan of Fredrik Blackman, but was not enamored with this book. It started to feel like it was too long. I may revisit it in future, give it another shot!

Not my favorite by the author, but still good.

Ce ramane in urma noastra? Britt-Marie are 63 de ani si decide, in sfarsit, sa traiasca. Ea curata si ordoneaza si organizeaza nu doar in viata ei, ci si in a altora.

Backman knows how to write charming characters. Britt- Marie is in need of a job after leaving her cheating husband. The employment agency sends her to the town of Borg to be a soccer coach to kids.

The story centers around Britt-Marie starting over and how the town becomes her found family. Backman is such a great story teller.

Thank you @atriabooks for a copy of this book.

"That is why I like you, Britt. You are also human."

It's a lovely story, and I really enjoyed getting to know quirky nag-bag Britt-Marie better, but I'm over Backman's common premise of the lovable band of weirdos that grow into an unlikely family. Make sense?

A Man Called Ove was just so good that, unfortunately, anything too similar is a letdown.

4.75. Charming and joyous. A woman and a town hard to like but so very easy to love. I wish we had more closure on just one story thread, but this is definitely my favorite of Backman’s more heartwarming books.
