A reminder that age is not limiting. Many things can limit a life, I'm not saying they won't, but just because someone is along in years, does not mean they can't bee seen.

By page 20 I knew I was hooked. Fuck that man knows how to write.

I really wound up liking the main character. The town people were fun people too. I want to live in Borg now

3.5 stars. Though not my favorite of Backman’s novels, Britt-Marie is an endearing story with a host of eclectic characters. The book moves very well and stays in a bit of a distanced narration to the characters. Britt-Marie is easy to love, though she is clearly quirky. It’s worth the read, though I am quick to recommend a different novel for those reading Backman for the first time. For those who have enjoyed his precious works, this one will feel a bit closer to the heart.

Such a beautiful story ❤️

Britt-Marie is the uptight and fussy housewife from "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry" She is divorcing her husband and needs a job. The temp agency sends her to a small village that has been severely impacted by the financial crisis. She is to be a caretaker of a soon to be closed recreation center. Britt-Marie hates sports.

She develops unique relationships with everyone in the village, including the noisy/dirty children who need a football coach. Bachman makes these relationships work beautifully. The characters, especially Britt-Marie are quirky and you fall in love with all of them.

This book makes your heart full. You'll hug it when you are done! Just lovely.
