This book made me cry. Not just little tears, but full on sobs through multiple pages. I didn't realize I had bought multiple books by this author until they were stacked together but this was the first one I read and I'm excited to get to the other ones. The writing is amazing and the characters are developed and grow (even ones with no name). Very amazing story.
3.5 stars because I found the ending less than satisfying.
Not bad but I liked his other books better. Story dragged a bit.
<3 What a lovely, heart-filling read. In Backman's skilled hands, Britt-Marie and the town of Borg are unendingly lovable. You can't help but root for them. And the soccer theme was excellently on-brand :) More Fredrik Backman, please.
I can’t say enough about this author. I always fall in love his characters, Britt-Marie was no different. I love the use of soccer in the story that helps Britt-Marie connect with the people of Borg.
Compared to all the other Backmoon books I've read, this was such a disappointment. It dragged a little for me and felt very similar, but not as good, as A Man Called Ove. I did like the ending , which is where the two stars comes in.
Spoiler
because Britt-Marie finally does something for herself and doesn't take the easy road (Kent) or the expected road (Sven)

A story about finding and living for yourself after spending a lifetime following someone else. And about how a community can come together over something that seems overall trivial, but is actually incredibly important.

I’d say this is the least impactful and developed of the Backman books. I still found it quite charming and touching, but it lacked that something that makes Backman books so incredible. Would recommend any other of his books first but this was still worth a read!
