I’m so sorry Backman, but I didn’t really care about what was happening in this book at all.

Though I didn't love it as much as I loved A Man Called Ovee I did really like it. Backman has a way of showing character growth without it seeming awkward and contrite.

Britt-Marie is hard to like and easy to love. Not my favorite Backman book so far, but he still has a perfect score for making me ugly cry in a public place (this time getting my hair done). I laughed out loud. I sighed. The ending made it worth it. Well done.

I was given an advanced reader copy of Britt-Marie Was Here from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Fredrik Backman writes characters that are so realistic that you seem to know them.

I loved it. Made me laugh, made me cry and everything in between. Just wonderful.

"If you can be heard then you exist."

"Sometimes it's easier to go on living, not even knowing who you are, when at least you know precisely where you are while you go on not knowing."

Perhaps the first Fredrik Backman book that did not make me cry, but it could be that I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately. Britt-Marie Was Here offered all the classic Backman aspects: humor, emotion, pain, love, connection, separation all wrapped up in a lovely little novel.

This is my new favorite book. I love everything about Britt-Marie. I love how he writes her and her observations.

I really liked this book, it's funny and honest, full of kindness and truth. But most importantly, it just made me want to hug Britt-Marie. And yes, there are clearly parallels to be drawn with the main character in En man som heter Ove, it's not as if Backman has never done this kind of thing before but I honestly don't care because he does it so well.
