Let me tell you straight off the bat, Jag is one hot mo-fo! Seriously! Yes he is arrogant and a pain in the wazoo at times, but he does not lack in sexuality and form. Whew. I was hoping he would jump off the page and come alive before my eyes.

Author Pamela Palmer definitely upped the sexiness factor in this series with Rapture Untamed. What starts out as a playful game between Olivia and Jag, slowly turns into an explosive -- and at times rough -- game of wills and sex. Jag has had some things happen to him in the past that has shaped his personality. He is hard to get along with and he can be pretty cruel at times to people and friends alike.

Olivia is part of the Therian Guard and has been called to the Feral House to help in the fight against the Daemons. The only problem is that she is keeping a huge secret and could be the key in getting herself killed by the Feral's themselves. When Olivia is forced to team up with Jag and his sexual innuendos, she has a hard time fighting her nature and secret.

This book rocked with the action, suspense, magic and romance. Each book in the series is getting better than the last -- if that is even possible. With each of the characters playing important roles in the series, we are getting a glimpse at future books with each one.

The ending was horrible in the fact that it is left on a cliffhanger and tortures the reader in having to wait for the next book. Thankfully, I had the next book handy or I would have gone insane or stalked the author for little tidbits about the series. If you haven't started reading the series, get on it readers. You are really missing out on talent and amazing writing!

Rapture Untamed
4 Stars

Synopsis:
The most antagonistic and anti-social of the feral warriors, Jag must partner with the beautiful and enigmatic Olivia, a member of the Therian Guard. However, Olivia is no ordinary immortal and possesses forbidden powers that must be kept hidden from her race. Will Jag discover her secret and what will he do with his dangerous knowledge?

Review:
Once again, the plot is engrossing and the intricacy of the Feral Warriors’ world just gets better and better.

The characterization is both the high and the low point of the book. In terms of the latter, Jag is vulgar and obnoxious, and his behavior toward Olivia is morally questionable. The revelations of his tortured past explain many of his offensive actions and he does eventually redeem himself. Nevertheless, it is difficult to sympathize with or even like his character.

In contrast, Olivia is amazing. She is courageous and spirited, and kicks Jag's butt on numerous occasions. He has definitely met his match in her. The unique curse with which she is afflicted and its contribution to the plot is actually what kept me reading. Not that the romance is lacking, in fact, despite his faults, Jag and Olivia’s relationship is captivating, especially once he comes to terms with who he is and realizes what he has to lose.

In sum, the book is well written and has some excellent twists and turns as well as a significant cliffhanger at the end. I highly recommend that the series be read in order so as not to miss out on any of the important details.

This is the fourth in the Feral Warriors series and by now I have a very firm grasp of the world Palmer has created, and also an idea of what future books might be like based on what I've seen of the other warriors in the series, who no doubt have their own books coming up. So, coming into Jag's book I was expecting to find a couple of things: Firstly, for Jag to start out the book being his usual annoying, arrogant, insulting, lewd, crude and rude self, but to be ultimately be found to be a nice guy, perhaps with a bad history, that was just misunderstood. We've seen glimpses of his secret nice guy persona in several of the previous books, particularly when he's dealing with the females or with Pink, the cook/flamingo. I just really had my hopes set on the fact that once you got rid of all the bravado, he would actually be nice and respectful to his female, Olivia, and turn out to be one my favourites in the series once he was reformed. Everyone loves a reformed bad guy, right?

And, to a degree, he was reformed. Just. However, for the majority of the book I was bitterly disappointed and frustrated with him.

In fact, during the first sexual encounter between the pair, I found his behaviour so abhorrent that I had a moment of asking myself if there was actually anything in him to redeem, or if I'd been overly optimistic where his character was concerned.

For this reason the book was disappointing on the romance front. Because he behaved like such a prized jerk and treated her so terribly and, more importantly to me, disrespectfully, and he didn't really do enough to counteract his behaviour by the end of the book in my view. I almost wanted her to tell him to go fish. It would have been no more than he deserved. Even finding out the reason for his behaviour and why he hates himself so much did little to endear him to me.

However, on the positive side, the rest of the plot was solid as usual and I really enjoyed the overall story. There was a major event towards the end of the book which has me desperate to get to the next one which is Kougar's story. I'm slightly worried about his story as well, though, because we know from this book that he has a mate from 1000 years ago that he thought was dead until recently. He believes she faked her death and is naturally furious with her, so I guess that means the next book is going to be filled with lots of bad feelings and hate sex as well...I just hope the one after that, Hawke's book, will bring some much needed levity and real romance back to the series, the likes of which we haven't really seen since book one. A couple who get together because they actually want to, because they like each other. Imagine that, huh?

By far my favorite of the series. I actually listened to the whole book without skipping any parts. I can't say the same for the first 3 books.

Jag was a total asshole. And there was a few moments where I hated him for the way he treated Olivia. If I didn't get his POV I would have hated him and I would have put the book down. I actually really liked him. Tortured souls are always some of my favorite heros. And Olivia was also pretty fantastic. She was a badass and didn't put up with Jag's shit.

I really liked the romance in this book. I honestly couldn't tell you about the demons and all the other crap that happened. I mean yes some demon shit went down. That's for sure but the romance was the focus of this book.

I actually have no desire to read the next book. Kougar does nothing for me and the little hints that we got about his story do not intrigue me at all. But Ill get to it eventually.

Jag such an arse, and I hate what he have done to Olivia, despite his tortured and tormented past. That's the reason why I give just 4 stars, even Feral Warriors is one of my favorite series, and I love Pamela Palmer's writing style (just forget the silly names of the Ferals :P)

At last he have the best cover at this series *snicker*...

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

This book isn't nearly as dark as book three was, but it is not flowers and butterflies either. Jag is a badass warrior with an even worse attitude. He is always sarcastic and often crude. He taunts Tighe's mate, Delaney, with what would be consider sexual harassment, if this was set in a normal office setting. He works hard to drive everyone away from him.

Olivia is another Therian that is part of a group of warriors, that while maybe not feral, are still elite. She is their leader of the group sent to assist the ferals in hunting the daemons that have been released. She is great at what she does. She also, isn't what she seems. Olivia has a secret, one that will get her executed if anyone figures out what she is. She is a danger to everyone around her if she loses control or chooses to do the wrong thing. It is a secret she has lived with her entire life.

This book doesn't have the big huge battles that the previous books have. That is not to say there are not battles, it just doesn't have the "big" battle that you are building up to in the end. This book seemed to focus more about the issues that the hero and heroine have (and there are plenty) and the romance between them. The sex is hot and rough, as you would expect from a tortured hero and a heroine who isn't afraid of him. This relationship starts off with lots of needling back and forth, but with Jag sees that Olivia can hold her own, he falls for her. Olivia makes Jag see things in himself that he has always covered up and really look at himself.

This is my favorite book of the series so far, even though Jag is a jerk. He has the tortured hero thing going for him. It is still a very dark story for PNR, but not as bad as the previous book. It would be more like what you would expect from a UF book.

Narration
I really enjoyed Shapiro in this book. Olivia has an on again, off again Scottish accent. He doesn't have the best female Scottish accent that I've ever heard, but it isn't bad. His ability to turn it on and off as her emotions take over is great. I think he had the timing just right for when she should have the accent and when she shouldn't.

I like to thank Tantor Audio for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
