This was a very easy adult read that I got through extremely quickly. Many (many many) spicy scenes and lusty comments/thoughts. There wasn’t a lot of plot or backstory in this book, and Persephone annoyed me with how deliberately she distrusted Hades even when he answered her questions. And her jealousy towards Minthe was ridiculous and very contrived. This book was a fun time, but not a well-written time (though it wasn’t poorly written, it was just average). Bumped up to a 4 because I couldn’t wait to read the next book and absolutely devoured this one. I did really enjoy the world of this book- a modern day Greece with gods/goddesses being the famous people of the world.

Let me say this first, I did enjoy this book. It is that kind of read that you will enjoy if you want something easy, fun and fantastical. That being said, I do not think the writing style was particularly good; I could easily have read this on Wattpad or similar.

The plot was simplistic but fun and the tension and romance was entertaining. There is a large amount of sexual content and intimacy so be aware of it. This book is for a mature audience.

Overall I enjoyed it but I'm not sure if I would continue the series or re-read.

Coming into this book I didn't really know much about it but once I learned it was a myth adaptation I had such high expectations. Madeleine Miller has set every other author who wants to write something based on a myth to unattainable standards. Unfortunately it didn't meet these. However, I still enjoyed this book because it serves its purpose as a fan service novel for women so I can't really complain.
