Absolutely devoured this book. While it could be more, I still thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the developing relationships between characters. I’m invested and already started continuing the story.

This was enjoyable. Greek mythology has always interested me and this retelling of Hades and Persephone was really creative. It kept my attention and I liked the plot quite a bit.

Character wise, Persephone was…annoying. Just being honest. I liked some things about her, but she took some getting used to. Very whiny. Very bratty. Very nosy. Overthinks and jumps to the worst possible conclusions. Doesn’t communicate well. Thankfully, Hades made her more likable. Hopefully she gets better as the series continues. Hades on the other hand…chef’s kiss. This book reminded me of ACOTAR. Everyone thinks Rhysand is so dark and malevolent, and then you get to see the real him in the Night Court. Similar plot line with Hades and his realm.

I’m not sure how I feel about the next book being essentially the same story again. I would like to see Hades’ POV, but I don’t know that I want to read this whole book again? Apparently you can tandem read these, so I may do that for books 3 + 4.

Overall, 4 stars. And truly, this is reduced from a 5 solely because of Persephone. The rest of the book was great.

Not only was Persephone absolutely insufferable, I hated her through this book, but her and Hades had no real chemistry. This enemies to lovers was so one sided enemies, Persephone hated Hades way to much for it to even make sense.

DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE "INTERNSHIP". In what world would an intern at a news place get their own desk and write articles to get published on the news page? I think the author should have removed this whole part of it and focused on her college classes instead but the college aspect was barely even a part of the story.

Persephone being a bit of a brat and undecided whether she wants to jump on that thang (all the while jumping on said thang) for 300 pages and Hades just dicking her down.

If you love the Hades and Persephone story then you’ll love this spicy entertaining read!
