A beautiful end, not the most perfect ending for anyone, but it is beautiful and a must read if you read both the previous books. This book is the most immense and awe inspiring, conclusion to a scifi universe that is already so vast and complex based on the previous books, but this book immensely out played the other books in its vastness of time and space.

I honestly would give it a 4.5 because I did not like the ending so much but made it 5 after realizing, I cant write a perfect ending as well on this grand scale Triology. I have nothing but respect and awe for Cixin Liu and hope he lives a long and happy life. And I hope as well that the films adaptations in netflix and future adaptation would give these 3 books the justice it deserves. Of course they cant copy or replicate all the scenes in the book into a film but at least bring out the best ones and hopefully they give the rest of the characters a more fulfilling end roles. But the books alone for me are enough of an ending.

I wonder what happened to Dashi and his son? I hope they lived a long happy life even before bunker era commenced.

SPOILER COMMMENTS BELOW!!!!

The ending left me thinking that me and my family could be seperated by immense millions years of time and I could never get to see them grow old. Which is the saddest and most heartfelt thing for a charact to experience

Loved how the metaphors and symbols had several layers, some of them were surprisingly simple while others were complex, and I liked how they fit into the story. I must admit that the character building felt a little weak to me at times. Cheng Xin had potential but ended up a bit flat. I guess that was partly because of all the twists and turns in the plot. And the wordy text, I suppose. All in all, I liked a lot, though, and I'm glad I read it.

Probably my least favourite in the series.
It just felt like a row of physics discoveries/discoveries about the universe that fit together in a very loose plot, and a lot of it amounted to nothing (or just went over my head).
Didn't help that the protagonist in this one was by far the most passive - I guess in a way all of the protagonists in the series are very hands-off, things more happen to them than they make happen. But this one also had sexist undertones. Not super bad, and they aren't exactly reaffirmed, but there are entire paragraphs about the "rough, brutal unkepts old time men" and how the "effeminate soft spoken men of the future" are no longer "real" men, plus an entire huge plot point is about the female protagonist holding a baby and feeling motherly love. Idk, just not my favourite thing to focus on.
