Runaway Ralph

Ralph is back at it again. He's such a character. Some of the original Mouse/Motorcycle magic is obviously gone. And I would say the action moves a bit slower than the first book. But I also think the conflict and the character development are much deeper.

Beverly Cleary is a master storyteller. I liked The a Mouse and the Motorcycle a lot more though.

While not quite as good as the first this is a worthy follow up!

Cute and sweet as I remember Ralph and his hi-jinks to be.

Another great Ralph the Mouse Story. Great for reading aloud with my 6 year old.

Good book that stands the test of time. The only thing I didn’t love/think was necessary was some of the unkind language that, while typical of elementary school kids, my slightly younger ones didn’t need to be taught (for example, there’s a sign in the book that says “drop dead”). We talked about why these words were unkind and shouldn’t be used, but with the next book, I’ll read more slowly and edit it out. Overall, fun book to read with the kiddos.
