Catherine is so self righteous and haughty. I just didn't find her likeable. I felt sad for the losses of there children but that's it.

Like all of Phillips Gregory’s books, she takes us into the mind of a woman who shaped history, even though we don’t hear her name much in modern times. I loved how she explored the themes of Katherine’s life and the way this queen came to understand her parents mistakes and fulfill her life’s ambitions. It was especially interesting in light of the religious clashes happening at the time and how they reflect on our modern world. This is a great example of my favorite aspect of Her writing: even though so many of her characters are rivals she manages to make us feel for all of them deeply. I can’t wait to continue this series and see the stories told from the perspective of another character, always with an unmistakeable point of view.
