I did enjoy this, just not enough to give it a 5. I loved the legal courtroom drama mixed with the thriller side of the story and how Eddie Flynn has to defend the Mafia whilst finding a way to save himself and his family. I am looking forward to reading more from Steve Cavanagh to see how I’ll enjoy them.

Good mixture of action and actual courtroom tactics. I would have preferred more trial dialog and less “normally I would have done this” type of talk. But overall well done.

I’m not sure how much I’ll enjoy the protagonist’s con angle; it worked with this plot but we will see with the future series entries.

The start was so full of thriller clichés I was about to abandon it but I have to admit I ended up admiring Cavanaugh's plot driving ability. He chose to lay on the "action" with a trowel when he could have chosen to concentrate the non-action, but, I thought, infinitely more interesting, verbal sparring. The book ends up being a very quick read, perfect in audio for a bunch of commutes. I sort of wish he could tone down the volume...

Gripping courtroom drama! Not a 5 star because it deals with the Mafia which I’m not all that into. Going to read all in this series!
