Predecessor to Sherlock Holmes, Poe's Dupin detective stories are a great favorite of mine. The imagery of the orangutan having his way with the straight edge is indelible.

Rating of all the Dupin Tales overall - 3/5 ⭐
I appreciate the stories as they're some of the first pieces of detective fiction, I didn't really enjoy them though.
I enjoyed the first story (The Murders In The Rue Morgue) the most out of them all. The gore was well written, and the dialogue kept me invested and I didn't mind the way it ended.
The Mystery of Marie Rogêt was disappointing since there wasn't a conclusive ending, but the story and the actual inspection of the body and the scene was very well done.
The Purrloined Letter was my least favorite. It's a letter... Maybe don't pass it around if it's important idk
