This book has such an interesting premise, that it is hard to ignore. Like, who would think a World War I story told by greek gods from the 40s could cause one to have such a deep emotional attachment to all the characters. I found James and Hazel’s romance very sweet and light, which contrasted nicely with the more dark relationship between Aubrey and Colette. Absolutely loved this book and is definitely one of my new favorites I would recommend to anyone. (P.S. Anyone who listens to music while they read like me, the La La Land instrumental soundtrack is perfect for this book. It’s just *mwah* chefs kiss)

I started listening to the audiobook of this months ago, and just now finished it. It's mainly a romance story, which generally isn't my thing, so I think that's a major reason why I kept putting it off. I also wasn't too interested in the beginning, but the last several hours really gripped me. Due to this I have no idea how to rate this book !

I do think the audiobook is the best way to experience this story. As it's told from the perspective of multiple Gods, each one has their own narrator, which gives the book so much life. There are also several moments where music is actually playing, so you can really feel the mood of the moment. Honestly, I probably would have DNFed this one if it wasn't for the audiobook.

Oh my Aphrodite, Lovely War is *chef's kiss* to me. I absolutely loved loved loved Hazel's and James' love story and adored Aubrey's and Colette's! How Aphrodite and the gods tell all of their stories is amazing and addictive and Julie Berry did an amazing job at making me fall in love with not just the characters and their stories  but also with the gods! I especially loved Hades! When (SPOILER?) Aphrodite called her next witness after Apollo and for sure thought it was going to be Hermes because not only is he the messenger of the gods but he also helps brings the dead to the underworld but when I found out it was Hades, I was pleasantly surprised! (SPOILER OVER). I have to say that Aphrodite is definitely my favorite character and all the comments she made about Hazel and James, I was like "same, me too, ect." and I was definitely squealing at all the cute moments between the characters. Julie Berry did such an amazing job and I was definitely be rereading this book over and over again and, when I get my money, be buying some more of her books! 5/5, best book I have read this year so far!
