This would be a strong 3, but every single thing in this book goes on for a little longer than it really needed to. If the author had tightened up the pacing and embraced this as the novella it probably could have been, it'd earn a higher rating.

This story is so great and bizarre .
I love Shesheshen. She is a great, bizarre, main character. i love all the moments where she really sees people for their truth but also just completely misunderstands people.
I wish this was longer to give it a bit more time, develop the relationship more.
The messages and discussions this book brings up are really good. I can't wait to read it again and take my time with the various topics.

weird and delightful sapphic monster romance, heavy on the monster. shesheshen has such a unique voice and her narration made for a very immersive story.

add in some sweet angst from some of the most fucked up family dynamics you’ve ever seen, and you’ve got a winner of a story. pretty heavy on gore/body horror, but a lot of heart to balance it out
