If you're looking for fucked up sapphic romance, read this! Despite my rating, I do think this was a good book and definitely fills a niche I'm always hoping for more of (that is, non-sanitized wlw relationships). I appreciated lots of little things about this story -- especially the way that Shesheshen just, unabashedly loved Homily and never stopped. Seeing their journey was a lot of fun to read. The narrator was also AMAZING and added so much life to the characters that I'm not sure I would've felt just reading by myself.
However,,, after a while I just wanted the story to be over. I like where it ended but if really felt like the last several chapters were not exactly necessary? Like a beach episode but after the climax has already happened. I also think that a lot of the gorey scenes were just not for me, though they were written really well (that was my problem, they're written TOO well!). So this may not be an issue for everyone.

This book was so unique and funny as you are getting the perspective a carnivorous monster. There thought process and way of explain human interactions they do not understand reminded me of how the Dexter’s inner monologues are in the show. The ending was also not completely what I expected and this book had so many different emotions for a gory premise like this. I totally recommend this story as it was such a fun ride and original.

This started off really gross and weird. I liked the intro of Shesheshen's character in her lair and the beginnings of her and Homily's romance, but I didn't like how she became the moral center of the story and all the humans villains. I liked that Shehseshen was kinda evil by nature, and I thought it was interesting how she ate/consumed literally anything including humans to build herself up and saw lying eggs in someone as a kind of love. It made sense that humans would be afraid of her regardless of whether or not they understood her. I would've liked the story so much more if it was just her and Homily living an unconventional, monstrous life together instead of equating Shesheshen being deemed monstrous with the treatment of outcasts in society and humans actually being the evil ones all along. She was monstrous and that's what I liked about her. It was unsatisfying to read a story from the villain's perspective that was really just shifting the villain role to the supposed hero.

One of the best sapphic romances that I have read. I love that it is from Shesheshen's pov. The ending is so satisfying.
