I'd rather be reading is filled with pictures about books and the love of books, as well as a few essays on the love of reading. I love bookish images and photos, but was unfortunately disappointed in the ones chosen for this book. There are more inspirational pictures on instagram and pinterest.

I'm not positive that finishing this book constitutes "reading" a book. I can easily claim that it this book belongs on my favorite books shelf (and I need to purchase a copy of my own!). This compilation of only a few short essays about reading sprinkled among poetry and contemporary art honoring the love of books and reading is a delightful tribute to the love of books that many of us share!
I'm particularly inspired by "A Slow Books Manifesto" by Maura Kelly. Kelly highlights that taking time to read quality literature builds empathy and character, both characteristics that build stronger people, communities, and eventually cultures. I've not jumped on board the slow movement in many ways, but this might be one I'm fully behind!

This is a collection of essays and cute artwork, all about reading. I love books about books, so this was a pleasant distraction. The artwork - both photographs and drawings/paintings - is sweet, but some give a slight tumblr vibe. The essays are ok, but nothing groundbreaking or actually impressive. Pretty lightweight, overall. 2.5*

A small little book. 4 eassays/blog posts on reading, and the rest is book-related pictures. Pretty average eassays - the best is Gretchen Rubin's "13 Tips for Getting More Reading Done". The pictures didn't do anything for me - not particularly inspiring or interesting. All in all an underwhelming experience - I have seen and read many other books on the "book-lover" theme that were better.
