I couldn’t finish this book because I’m in my mid 20s and feel weird reading about a bunch of entitled, rich high school students who have the whole world in their hands. The male lead is derogatory and selfish, he objectified the female lead and treats her like a toy. Summer, on the other hand, is being dealt with a bad hand and she just seems like she’s being forced into all these situations and is doing nothing but taking it because she has no other choice. It is dark romance, so I expect as much but this is about HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. It doesn’t make much sense and the whole “they’re rich and go to a prep school” does give some leeway to their behavior, but it doesn’t justify half of the things that Whit is saying or doing. It’s just pornographic and uncomfortable.

Summer has transferred to Lancaster Prep for her senior year. She's hoping for a new start but on her first day she runs into Whit, the boy whose family her mother destroyed. He hates the sight of Summer and sets out to make her suffer but he also can't keep his hands off her.

Summer and Whit's relationship is so toxic that I should hate it but for some reason I just wanted more. Not sure what that says about me 🙈 They start off hating each other but really hate that they want each other. There is a lot of degradation in this book so if that's a trigger, stay away. The pacing of the book was perfect, there was no rush to get married and have babies. I liked that there was a third act break up but they didn't immediately get back together. They both took time for themselves and made it back to each other.

I loved the friendship between Summer and Sylvie. Sylvie managed to inject some light into a dark book and bring the MC's out of their shells. For me, there wasn't enough Monty! He was one of the best characters and I did not get to spend enough time with him! I hope he makes more appearances throughout the series.

Имах други очаквания от тази книга, но останах разочарована. Вулгарностите ми дойдоха в повече, но въпреки това бях решена да стигна до края на историята. Нито един от главните герои не ми допадна. Уит е типичното лошо момче, свикнало да получава каквото иска, наранявайки всички около себе си. Самър, от друга страна, не уважаваше себе си достатъчно, тъй като търпеше отвратителното му поведение и позволяваше той да се отнася към нея сякаш е боклук и не заслужава любов. Колкото и да обичам такъв тип истории, именно "enemies to lovers", точно тази изобщо не ми допадна. Имаше прекалено много извратени сцени и всичко се основаваше на сексуалното привличане между Уит и Самър. Уит така и не признаваше пред себе си, че обича това момиче, а показваше само тъмната си страна, наранявайки я многократно.
Все пак бих дала шанс на авторката, прочитайки поне още една книга от тази поредица, тъй като ми е интересно какво би се случило със Силви, понеже в началото ми беше най-симпатична от всички.
