It wasn’t amazing, imo, but it was good enough to keep me listening and wondering what came next. The storyline is interesting and I’m interested in the world building and how it will all unfold. BUT. Here are my concerns:
1. I don’t really like the mmc.
2. Every time they kiss, it’s super cringy imo
3. It’s marketed as a slow-burn, but there is literally no emotional connection (which is what makes slow burn exciting!!). Which leads me to
4. It’s insta lust and I find it hard to root for the couple because I’m not really sure why they’re into each other.
As someone who reads fantasy, but really LOVES the romance in them, this wasn’t it for me. If you were to subtract all the romance, I would’ve rated it 4 stars. But the love story there isn’t that great so it lowered the overall story to 3.5.
I’d say this borders on “dark romance” which I’m not typically a fan of. If you like dark romance though, then you might like this more.
