I have to say, I was a little disappointed upon finishing this book. I'd had it on hold via e-library for over 6 months, so let's just leave it at the anticipation had been sufficiently built. I don't know if King is going soft as he ages, or if is son isn't quite as cutthroat, or maybe I just expected too much.
For me, there were to many P.O.V. shifts to really understand the characters, in addition to there being too many characters. It just fell kind of flat - a bunch of idiot men running around resorting to violence without the women to balance them is what it essentially boils down to. I didn't need 700 pages to outline this story that takes place in the span of a week.
And our psychiatrist friend, Clint? How many times did we have to hear about him working so hard to control his anger, fists clenched and shaking, because of his troubled upbringing (and the stupid milkshakes!) Boo-frickety-hoo! You're an adult working in a prison with women whose lives currently suck ten times worse than yours - get over it!

Anyway, returning from the sidetrack, to sum up, all I can really say is, it was no IT, that's for sure. I'll just stick with King's older classics from now on.

I have mixed feelings about this book... I am not sure how I feel about it. I couldn’t stop listening to it...but I am still not sure I liked it. I will say that Steven king/Owen king wrote some very nasty men in this novel — but also women who shined.
Overall I recommend it... and request that you tell me your thoughts about it.

Las primeras 300 páginas son geniales, pero la segunda parte decae hasta el aburrimiento.
What a drag. In general not a bad idea to ask what would happen in a world without women and if they would want to go back, given the choice. But it was implemented horribly and full of clichés. Men wanted the women back because they were not able to take care of their children or cook a decent meal? What the hell! Really?
Also not a fan of the style; the excessive descriptions of detail and the brutality. I get it, it's a King, but why do I need really explicit descriptions of how a head is blown off? I can imagine that for myself, thank you very much. I don't need constant comparisons added to descriptions and what's with the crude pop culture references?
I didn't find it exciting or suspenseful and I wouldn't have finished it, if I would have read it. It was hard enough with the unabridged audiobook.

A long, long read, but that's the King's taste. It took about 50 pages before I got into it, I almost put it down. 50 pages of all different characters they had to introduce you to. Thankfully I kept reading and glad I did. I enjoyed those 700 pages but glad when it was over. Not a dull moment that's for sure. Only thing I wish was that there was a better or more of a reason for it. Did I somehow miss the reason it really happened? Maybe not, maybe the reason wasn't good enough for me. I always enjoy Stephen King.
The Kings paint a frighteningly relevant painting which resonates with today's life and asked the unquestionable: what would happen if all of the women went to sleep? What resulted was a deep and thoughtful analysis of the nature of humans and the way we would all be affected. Don't be put off by its sheer size, it will grip you to the very end with its flawed characters.
