Wow. I am literally lost for words.

Young Mungo is one of the most heartbreaking, moving, and emotionally devastating books I’ve ever read. Douglas Stuart’s writing is simply beautiful, and the prose paints such vivid imagery. I’m so glad he’s adapting his novel for television. This is definitely one of my favourite reads of the year, and I cannot wait to see how Mungo and James’s love story is adapted for the screen.

Chris Reilly was also brilliantly cast for the audiobook and grounded the story and characters with his impressive voice acting. It’s so refreshing to hear an authentic Glaswegian narrate a book set in Glasgow. Five out of five stars — but I wish I could give it more.
