A solid book. I'm probably being generous giving this 4 stars, since I wouldnt really recommend it at that level unless you've read and liked the first 3 books, and the book itself is worse than some of the earlier books in the series (I think 2 was the best in my mind). Still a solid story that hopefully will lead to a strong conclusion.

Orholam’s beard, this book is - I don’t know what it is. I’m speechless.

I have never - NEVER read an author as good as Brent Weeks. Might be they excist. Might not. The way he sees people. The way he sees the world. The way he merges all these miniscule but oh so effective details into a cosmic perfection.

It is now my life goal to become HALF as good a writer.

I really love this series, but I was a little disappointed by this book. First of all, I thought it was going to be the final book in the series... But it wasn't. Second of all, not much happened in it. That was mostly fine, I still enjoyed reading it since I'm already in love with the series, but it irked me to be reading a fairly slow not-the-last book in the series when instead it could maybe have been a jam-packed last book in the series.

Still 3.5 stars though... And now the wait begins again for the next one. *le sigh*

What seems like a passing of the torch from the previous ruling generation to the youngins is intriguing but also comes with the destruction (death) of many of the most interesting characters in the series. Also, it’s a bit weird that these younger characters have way less magical experience and seemingly lack of knowledge but at the most clutch moments they intuit the perfect and very powerful magical solution. Still fast paced and gripping though

Lies! It's all lies!
This is not the final book. This is far far away from the final book. It pissed me off so much that I edited the Goodreads page of the book and removed the false disclaimer.

Coming back to the book, the plot thickens. The people I loathed are fast turning out to be my favorites. There is a twist coming and people out of shadows. Gavin disappointed. Oh, he disappointed so bad. More crying, less talking. This book solely belongs to Kip and Teia. Both far away and both battling separate enemies. Kip's transformation is astounding. He's suddenly the Matrim Cauthon of Wheel of Time, raising armies and battling foes far superior. Well, he does have the Mighty plus one additional exceptional woman.

Days of fighting are over for Karris ever since she took on the White. Her fragile alliance with Andross Guile is one of the main highlights of the book. Finally, we get to see the other side of the man and it's not pretty. Neither what I expected.

Gavin is alive. He has a job to do. And if he dies, it might actually do some good. For that, he has to man up once again. The color prince has something up his sleeve. Also, he has Liv.
Game ON!

I enjoyed every part of this book that wasn't a Kip chapter. Am I meant to like to character Im not sure anymore...

Feel this book would be a 4.5 without Kip, and a 2 with just Kip.

Shame but I am looking forward to see how this story concludes, and i will miss this world once its over.
