What a fantastic series starter! I was so intrigued how these two authors styles would intersect, and with a cover that felt outside of the box for them both, I was thirsty to dive in. The story wasn't quite what I expected, in a great way- and Vanessa erotic swoon paired with Helen's weaving of trauma and tension paired together perfect. Both authors brought their flair for drama and twists, and this fast paced read sucked me right in. The characters are interesting, the family dynamic compelling, and the setting unexpected. This is a page turner with the right amount of drama, steam, and emotion. I loved seeing this newly created family come together, and the chemistry aplenty. These Billion Heirs are certainly captivating, and I'm super excited for more of this series!

This was entertaining and had some stakes that made it worthwhile. There was a dropped plot thread that felt like a big deal, but who knows, maybe it will come back around in another book. I also felt the severity of the heroines experience felt a tad cheapened by the hero’s lascivious thoughts at the beginning, but it panned out in an instalove fashion that conveniently wrapped the romance together in a believable manner.

Scarred by Vanessa Vale and Helen Hardt has been a brilliant palate cleanser from all the dark fantasy books I have been reading and it shook me to my core with all the emotions it compelled me to feel. The family drama of the brothers along with Carly’s traumatic background was a bit heartbreaking and difficult to read at times but the incredible sensuality and the easily given devotion by Austin made everything A-okay

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Austin Bridgers just inherited about a billion dollars - thanks to the no-good, stranger father of his. But the money comes with stipulations - he has to leave behind his life to spend a year with his half-brothers in order to inherit a dime.
Carly Vance is on the mend - both physically and emotionally after being held captive on a pacific island. There's a new day upon dawn, for her it's a dream coming true: she got a job at Bridgers's Montana ranch.
When they stumble into each other on her first day there is a pull between them - but with the past threatening, angry family members and secrets, their future isn't so sure.

REVIEW:

It was my first book by both of the authors, and it's certainly on the darker side of the comtemporary romance category. My listed trigger warning's should definitely be checked before delving into the story of Carly and Austin.
At first the plot was a bit strange for me, but I quickly got used to it. It's not my usual cup of tea, but the story was engaging and captivating, I turned the pages quite fast to get to the information about Carly's past, Austin's family, the WHYs of the family drama etc.
I really enjoyed the side characters: both Chance and Miles were fun and unexpected, so if the authors are up to it, I'm curious to read about the other Bridgers as well.
The romance aspect was a bit on the insta-love/attraction side of things, there was spice and sweet moments equally scattered through the fast paced storyline.
If you'd like to read about some mystery, a bit darker romance, I would recommend you'd check out this novel!

TROPES FOR YOUR READING PLEASURE:
- billionaire hero
- dark romance
- insta-love
- mutual attraction
- family drama

Austin is struggling to keep his ailing mother’s business afloat when suddenly he finds out his estranged father has died and left him (and his 2 half brothers) with an inheritance worth BILLIONS! Except there’s a catch....they all have to live on his ranch in Montana for a year before they can receive it. It’s there where he meets Carly, a former veterinary student who was kidnapped and held captive for 3 years. This book was amazing! I literally could not put it down. I loved watching Carly become confident and finally stand up for herself and the things that she wants in life despite the horrors she suffered while being held captive. I loved seeing her and Austin’s relationship be one of respect and not pity. This was a GREAT start to a new series and I cannot wait for the others to come out! I will say that it ends with lots of story lines unresolved but not necessarily a cliffhanger, imo! *check TW*

Austin and Carly's story started in an interesting way, a guy that finds out he has two brothers, a girl that is struggling after being kidnapped, an inheritance in the middle of everything. They found what they didn't search for but was the best thing that could happened to them both. The story is good, very entertaining, the idea is good, the characters are fantastic. I am certainly up for the next one.

Cute start into a new series about 3 brothers, who did not know about each other, and only find out about them after their father died and the lawyer rounds them up to fulfill the stipulations of the will.
Austin is a seaplane pilot, living in Seattle, and must live on the ranch in Montana now for the next year in order to receive his inheritance.
There he meets Carly, who is working for the vet on the ranch. They are attracted to each quite fast, and Austin didn't know about Carly and what happened to her years ago, and he treated her like every other person. Also after he knows, he doesn't change his behavior.
All in all this book was a quick read and enjoyable, but everything just happened to quick for me, and I'd have loved some more development. But I would recommend if you like the easygoing romance, with a tiny hint of suspense! It'll be interesting to see how the other 2 brothers stories will be.

I didn't know what to expect going into this book. I knew I would like it because Helen Hardt is one of my favourite authors, however, I hadn't read anything by Vanessa Vale but I was not disappointed, this was fantastic, it was such a page-turner, This book was full of twists and turns and kept me second guessing everything about these two. I couldn't put it down. I loved Carly and Austin so much! I NEED MORE!!

These authors together are amazing and I'm excited to see where they go with this series!

5 Stars!

I'm loving the storyline of a rich father demanding their children come back to the father's home for a year. This is the third book series I've read with the trope and it is so good each time!

Scarred had darker themes than the previous two I've read due to Carly's past. She has been through more than anyone would ever want to survive and I also loved that it wasn't the focus of her story rather her survival was.

Austin is dealing with a lot of stress from his own life before having to move to Montana, but he starts to figure out how to handle it all especially now that he has his brothers and Carly to help.

Austin and Carly are adorable and the insta-lust felt right for their story. They were so cute and had so much respect for each other, I wish I could read more.

The twists and turns in this book are good and keep you reading very easily, and there are some plot lines that I'm hoping will be continued throughout the series!
