I acknowledge that I was not the intended audience of this work of essays as a Greek-(so called) Australian, but I'm thankful it exists and that I got to pick it up at Readings.

Much more of the moment than I expected, much more aligned with my other current reading on diversity work in institutions than I expected. Made me think, made me talk to people around me about it. Made me more self conscious of myself as coloniser than any other text has.

I listened to this as an audiobook, read by Prof Watego herself, and what a powerful, uncompromising and unmitigated account of living and working and thinking in the colony as an Aboriginal academic, woman, mother.
