Beautiful. Haunting. Confusing. Very beautifully written.

This made me want to learn sign language.

Wow. I don't think I've ever felt so much like saying "Thank you" after reading a book.

Thank you for giving me this look into deaf & CODA culture that felt like it was done with such extreme care, knowledge, respect and thoughtfulness.

Thank you for giving me this look into BDSM in a way that made it feel comforting to read, even if it had a lot of kinks that aren't my own. Thank you for making me understand CNC a bit better and portraying it in a way that felt safe as a reader who usually doesn't like reading it.

Thank you for portraying the characters' problems and struggles in a way that felt very realistic and still respectful. Thank you for honoring these struggles and the characters' growth in the last 30% of the book, by not using any plot devices that would have done it disservice.

It wasn't a book that made me cry because of a specific scene (I really am an emotional cryer). It was a book that made me cry after it was done because of the absolute care in all of it, every little detail, every thoughtfulness.

3.5 stars. I picked it up for the ASL and the trans representation, neither of which disappointed. It was extremely interesting to read characters communicating through sign. The BDSM scenes were good as well, as someone who isn’t terribly interested as it is. I would have liked a little more character development outside of their very focused issues related to the story. It was a short book anyway and it could have been a lot more engaging if the characters and their setting had been developed a bit more.

Beautiful

The dynamic, the hurt/comfort, the bdsm, all of it was just perfect. Marco and Greg were beautiful together and I enjoyed every moment of their story. I'm looking forward to reading more from the author.
