I really enjoyed this book, the plot was kinda slow in the beginning but once the big revel happens the plot picks up. It does taper into repetitiveness in the middle but it doesn't stay that way for long. I will admit that I had a feeling about the first (there are so many different twists in this book it's unreal) twist the happened, but, the ones that followed later on I had no hope in guessing.
As you're reading, you think you have the mysteries figured out but then something happens and another twist is shown and it throws you for a loop and leaves you questioning, "What the hell!"
There were some parts near the end that I had to go back and reread (or listen in my case) because I was confused. When you hit the last 3 or 4 chapters of the book, information comes flying at your and it can be a bit of a struggle to keep up and understand it all. The ending resolution of the mystery felt a little rushed. But the ending felt right to me and I really enjoyed it.
The audiobook was wonderful. The narrator shows real emotion and voice changes that follow Leigh and what's happening i.e whispering, muttering, voice pitches for different characters etc.

Without giving spoilers, this book is both scary and mysterious. I really enjoyed how it kept switching my expectations and keeping me off balance while also having some genuinely heartfelt moments. I haven't been much of a fan of the horror/scary genre, but I'd be definitely interested in reading more from this author (and look at that, she has a lot of other published works to keep my occupied).
Graphic: Body horror, Cannibalism, Confinement, Death, Injury/Injury detail, and Murder
