Absurd and bizarre, with unexpected depth. The descriptions of weird Internet culture, and the descriptions of a family pod experiencing shared loss and grief are both spot-on. Lockwood captures how it feels to be fully present in the bittersweet moments where you know you don't have long with someone. An absolutely unique book! Part 1 is strange and slow (which of course is by design) so stick it out to Part 2 if you're not feeling it yet.

I have to admit that most of the time, I had no idea what was going on in the book. It was like a stream of consciousness for the most part, but the parts I was able to follow were profound and sad and angering.

what a beautiful poetic book but oh my god, how sad. I usually don't cry when I read but this one got me up late, racing to finish and when I did--waterworks.

I both really enjoyed this and didn’t at the same time. I feel a bit over social media commentary I think it’s a difficult thing to do without coming across as judgemental or superior. Very likely  projecting my own insecurities of my personal  social media experience though . Did cause me to uninstall them off my phone hahah so I guess it really stuck with me.

Particularly towards the end of the book I really really enjoyed the authors observations and descriptions. They are sad and hopeful and poetic.
