After Nilly moves he and Lisa become fast friends. Together they help their neighbor Doctor Proctor to sell his remarkable invention, a tasteless powder that will make you fart magnificent farts. When Doctor Proctor and Nilly get arrested, Lisa works to make sure the fart powder is safe and Nilly makes a spectacular escape.
The humor of this reminded me a lot of Captain Underpants. There were several times that I snorted and laughed while reading. It had the perfect amount of absurd.

In a country called Norway, young Lisa is mourning the loss of her best friend (she moved to another town), but she is in luck: a clever, interesting boy named Nilly has moved in. Nilly may be a little strange, but he and Lisa click right away, especially when they join forces with the nutty Doctor Procter, who has developed an amazing powder to create the world's biggest and best farts, sure to bring the kids in. Enemies are many, but the three musketeers are determined to prevail!
This book came highly recommended at a recent readers' advisory session and I can definitely see the appeal. It has adorable, stick-figure-esque illustrations and hilarious, simple text. I think kids ages 6-10 for thoroughly enjoy the story. For the rest of us it drags a bit, but still worth the ride.

A very fun book with mystery, adventure (such exciting and exhilarating adventure), and all sorts of twists! This was a wonderful book to listen to and I'm positive it would be a great read with fun voices and silly effects. I'm glad to see that there are more books with Dr Proctor and his hilarity for my kids and me to explore!

Something in this story reminds me of Roald Dahl. Perhaps it's the simple illustrations, the funny names, or the sense of humor, but something evoked a sense of nostalgia. Fart jokes go over well with most children, and this book plays them to the hilt with the improbable fart powder. The villains are appropriately wicked and a little stupid, and everyone gets their just deserts.

My 10 year old and I enjoyed this book. It was funny and thoughtful, with just the right amount of toilet humor to keep them giggling throughout.
