Yippee ki yay! Damn good stuff! If you like your heroes to have a conscience and still be able to mete out some rough justice when it is warranted, you are going to love Joe Pickett.

Good story about a game warden seeking the truth about his daughter's savage attack.

There are some very sick weirdos in this world. This book is about a family of them. Not overly sensationalistic (which I believe in itself leads to the chilling gnawing horror - it's just how life is lived and seen by some).

Another instant classic read. I have not really gotten to know Joe Pickett but the little bit that I am familiar with I am enjoying. I really felt like I connected with him in this book. I like that the father side of him really came out. He was not just sheriff but a father who like any loving father you do not want to mess with when his daughter is hurt. Quick reading with high intensity. I could not stop reading. Mr. Box is a great storyteller. He brings life to his stories and characters as if they really were people. Not much of a surprise when it came to the responsible party. However still fun to read how it would all end. Which it did end and with a big bang in a good way. Can't wait to read the next book by this author.

Another great family that I've watched grow. I love that Joe always does the right thing and Nate is back...at least a little bit. Great ending to the bad guys...well bad family..the Cates. Great book!

This book picked up a few months after the previous one. The badly beaten body of a young woman has been found and it turns out to be April who has been missing since the end of Stone Cold. Immediate suspicion is on her cowboy boyfriend and his family closes ranks to protect him. In the meantime, Joe is also dealing with a grouse preservation issue, and Nate is battling his own problems. This was a well plotted book that continues to show a complex family. Joe is far from perfect and it was nice to have his belief in his assumptions challenged.
