This book was really interesting, and I enjoyed the areas that were discussed. Highly recommend this one!

Enjoyable audiobook about The Ghost Club, a real club in Britain (majority of it's existence it has been in London) - and about the rise of spiritualism and the investigation of the psychical realm. And the very human frauds, disagreements, and controversies surrounding the investigations.

I tend to prefer a faster pace, but Kate’s way of storytelling is just so good! This was a really interesting read.

I love Kate Winkler Dawson and am an avid listener to all of her podcasts- so I figured I would love her audio-only book. But I found it choppier than her other works and hard for me to follow. Still a fan of hers-this just wasn’t for me!

I was really excited to dive into this, but it turned out it feels more like reading a bibliography than a book. It wasn't even as exciting as an encyclopedia article about the history of paranormal investigation and mediumship would have been. It literally felt like listening to a timeline with nothing other than names and bulleted lists of events. I absolutely do not recommend this unless you're looking to write a research paper on the subject.

I guess it was interesting? Not sure what I expected. The author presented the material as if they were setting up to prove whether or not the Victorian ghost club was a scam, then seemed surprised when it was still a question mark at the end of all their research. Like, it's a ghost club. If we knew whether or not paranormal activity was real, it would lose both potency and enjoyment.

I love Kate - I listen to her podcasts and have read many of her books. Maybe it’s because I’ve heard a good bit about this story but this one didn’t really do it for me. Impeccably researched, of course, I just didn’t find the story very compelling.
