Well, I finally got myself to read Demon Slayer and this beginning is fine. I mean, every series has to start somewhere and this one has a decent start. It establishes Tanjiro as a character and his motivation that I presume will drive him through the entire series.

As far as the characters go, I have to say that I’m not overly impressed by any of them so far. Tanjiro is fine enough and I don’t find him that annoying (I’ve heard people complaining about it though) but I do think I like Nezuko better based on these few moments we got with her. The other characters are just barely there but I’m excited to get to know them better in the future. Also, I really want to see what the deal is with those ghosts and how Tanjiro can see them.

One complaint that I do have is that we basically just get a training montage of Tanjiro becoming a demon slayer for like a year and a half. I mean, yeah sure, we can now move on to more important things but I personally like to see how my characters develop their skills through time and grow with experience.

Anyway, this is a solid start but nothing mind-blowing as of yet. I’m giving this 3 stars but I’m genuinely excited for what follows since this is one of the most hyped up manga/anime series of the last 10 years.
