First re-read thanks to Fated Mates and I'm glad this latest episode prompted me to do this because when I read this series the first time around, it was as the books were first published. This time, I can read them consecutively which allows me to see how these wonderful characters in this universe change and grow over time.
I don't think I realized the first time around how similar Libby and Scottie were in their tendency/preference to hold themselves apart from everyone. Libby's isolation was largely because she was physically removed from her friends and made no effort to reach out, and Scottie's is because he puts up invisible barriers to protect himself from all the people around him.
Sophie is the perfect person to knock him out of his comfort zone and it's a lovely thing to see him slowly open up to his friends.
There are some brilliant comedic moments in this, which is typical of Kristen Callihan's storytelling. The karaoke night on Scottie's bus; the pop culture discussions about Star Trek vs. Star Wards, Twilight, the surprise that Scottie likes to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer....this was a lovely visit back in their world.

****4.5 STARS****
Let us first talk about sexy ass Gabriel for a moment please….This man is beautiful, just fucking beautiful. It’s really not fair if you think about it. He has the sexist accent (as far as us American think).I’m a sucker for a British accent – I even my my husband read some of Gabriel sentences so I could listen to his words come out of another Brit’s mouth. I’m sure he wants a divorce now!!!

But here is the thing, Gabriel knows he is sexy as hell but he doesn’t give a flying fuck. To him, all those women who only want him for his looks turn him off.
He sounds so snobby, but I love him.
Hopefully, you have read Idol (VIP book 1) and you know that Gabriel is kind of rude, snobby, closed off, emotionless and difficult to get to know….or so we think. But in book 2 you get a chance to get to know Gabriel aka Scottie in a way we didn’t from book 1. He is quite the opposite of all those things.
I’ve lived in England and have many British friends so I understood Gabriel’s flat personality well. I actually liked his character in the previous book. I knew in book 1 that there was more than and reading it in book 2 just solidified my feeling about him.

My precious Sophie, I just loved her.
Sophie is everything Gabriel needs whether he wants to admit it or not – he didn’t want to admit it, surprise, surprise! She is funny, outgoing, confident but not arrogant, beautiful and opinionated.
She also has no intentions of putting up with his shit, which I love. While everyone is scared of him she doesn’t care, she messes with him on purpose to help bring him out of his shell.
But Gabriel doesn’t always stay on Sophie’s good side. Just like every other man he has is “idiot” moments. And when they get to a point of disrespect she isn’t having any of that. My kind of girl.
When a woman is fed up there is nothing you can do about it….
Sophie gives Gabriel something he has always found difficult to obtain, complete acceptance. But can he give it back to her?….
Let me tell you something I don’t think men understand. We will support them until we are blue in the face. We will ride for them, stand by them, accept you for who they are. But don’t get it wrong, we will not be doormats or their punching bags. I loved me some Sophie because she not going to allow him to be disrespectful or treat her like shit.

But Gabriel sees Sophie as his weakness. Weakness is not an emotion that sits well with him. That scares him and he begins to make choices and do things that aren’t healthy for him or for Sophie.
At least Gabriel has some really good friends, I mean check out their advice….
Us women can be so complicated. Hahahahahahahaha!!!!! Love it!

I can’t say anything negative about this book because I really enjoyed it. It didn’t stress me out much, I loved both main characters, no one annoyed me. It was pretty, pretty, pretty good.
I don’t know if there is going to be a 3rd book but if there is I’m going to reading it ASAP!!!! It’s a good things there is a HEA otherwise I would be going bat shit crazy.

“Our situation aside, casual contact irritates me, which means casual sex no longer holds and interest. In truth, I find it repellant now.” – Gabriel

I’d wonder if he’s simply arrogant – a perfectly formed man who doesn’t deign to mix with average women like me. But it’s fairly clear he’s this way with everyone. – Sophie

“You know,” she says. “I like you just as you are, faults and all. But you clearly don’t accept me for who I am.”
“That’s not true!” I’m walking faster now. But she’s already at the door, opening it. “Sophie.”
She pauses, but still doesn’t look my way. “Leave me alone, Gabriel. I’ve reached my limit tonight. I can’t talk to you anymore.”

“So, did you apologize to Sophie?” Jax asks.
“Of course. But I cocked it up, and she asked for space.”
“You didn’t give her space, did you?” Killian sounds horrified.
It give me a pause, and I peer up at him. “Wasn’t I supposed to?”
“No, you don’t give them space,” he wails. “That’s only some shit they say to see if you’ll fight for them.”
Outrage punches through me, “Why the bloddy hell would they do that to us?”
“To see if we’re paying attention.” Jax offers.
“To torture us.” Rye counters.

I almost DNF right from the start. The author is a woman herself yet she writes like a men writing woman. What do you mean her tits bounced around???
The way she writes Gabriel's POV is so weird to me. She really made it seems as if he only thinks with his cock and balls.
Also there are a lot of small things that bothered me. Like Gabriel hoping Sophie is not a stripper, one of the band member wanting to see Sophie having sex with a woman because its hot, and Sophie thinking Gabriel is asexual because he isn't interested in her??? Kristen Callihan is very weird for all of that.
However I do think that Gabriel and Sophie have a really good chemistry with each other. I also like the romance and thought they were cute. The conflict and the resolution are weak though.

KC has a way with words and always manages to add some depth to her stories, not just the characters. The plot to this one was fairly well done, although a little contrived. but her characters are very genuine. I enjoyed seeing the other characters from the band and its entourage. They had a bit more meaning to this book than often is the case with sequels.
Skimmed a lot past the 70% mark. Otherwise was a fun read, got a little annoyed by how easily both of them got hurt due to their lack of communication but maybe that's just me.

4.75 I think?? It was really close to five only one tiny thing bothered me but GABRIEL SOPHIE MY NEW LOVES!! They are adorable and I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time I listened to this. I love them so much
I’ve lived my whole life denying myself what I truly want. And yet I cannot turn from you. Haven’t you realized it yet? I am yours. I will always be yours, whether I touch you or not.”
“First and most importantly, I love you. I have never said that to a woman, and I will never say that to any other but you. I’ve lived long enough to know that you are completely it for me. This is a done deal—signed, notarized, what have you.”
I was so excited for Sophie and Gabriel's story, everyone talked about how they are the top Grumpy/Sunshine couple, how they invented the trope and guess what? I get it!! I totally freaking get it because they stole my bloody beating heart the second they started to talk to each other!! It was kinda quick but it was so funny and cute that I didn't mind at all and their banter was just iconic since page one!! Gabriel went through hell and now he is a king and I loved reading from his pov and learned more about him and get to know the real man he is and how caring and protective he really is of his family aka the guys and Brenna and Libby and of course Sophie and how he cares so deeply for them and takes care of them, was actually so perfect and amazing and heartwarming to read!!
Sophie Darling, her name just freaking fits and even though she made big mistakes in the pass, I love how that never got in the way of her personality to be happy and making other people happy even though, a little bit like Gabriel, it was a mask, deep down she truly is this beautiful, cute, funny, kind, caring, wonderful woman who got to finally found the career of her dreams and fall in love with the man who loves and cares for her so deeply!!
I just loved them both so much, and seeing all the guys and Libby and Brenna all over again was epic and I fell in love with this family even more and I'm so excited for the rest of the books and read from Jax's perspective!!! Though I'm a little bit more intrigued with Rye and Brenna's book!!!
“You didn’t mess anything up,” I tell him, smoothing my hand over his hair. “You’re perfect. I love you, sunshine. Exactly how you are.”
“I am rather annoyed about one thing, however. How could you have thought I’d send you away?” His gaze warms, but his expression is solemn. “You’re my life, chatty girl. It has no joy without you in it.”

・My favourite trope; sunshine heroine + grumpy hero.
・When they fell on the pavement, it felt like watching a romance kdrama and not in a good way. Lol.
・Didn't like how she ~cured~ him.
・Hero's monologue was a lil cringey to me.
・Got bored halfway.
Worst of all?
The contrived drama at the end. I knew it was coming but I gave the author the benefit of the doubt because why not? Who knows they could FUCKING COMMUNICATE LIKE MATURE ADULTS.
