Great slow burn. 4.5

Sophie and Gabriel are the totally the opposite of each other! That's what make them so great for each other. Kristen Callahan just knows how to write a good slow burn!

Meet Sophie Darling the chatty social media consultant who just wants to enjoy the most outta life…especially if its getting seated next to a hot man in first class

“He clears his throat. “I don’t—”
“You’re one breath away from totally losing your shit. Accept the torment that is physical comfort.”
“I snuggle down. “And that you’re insanely hot is a huge factor. I get to cop a feel under the guise of civic duty.”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake.”

During her flight for a job interview, she gets upgraded to first-class *helll yassss* and seated next to her polar opposite: a the fear-of-flying-workaholic-pantie-dropping Gabriel Scott

He isn’t used to enjoying the small moments in life. But Sophie’s sweet and funny personality brings it out of him
“You’re acting like a mother hen.” Which I love.
“Cluck, cluck,” he deadpans as he picks up the house phone with one”

He tries to play hard to get on the team’s road trip but who can resist Sophie’s chattiness which totally brings out his alpha protective instincts

“I swear I’m all right. I’m just having an off night. It happens.”
I need him to go so I can hunt down that fuckwit Martin and tell him to eat shit and die—or something to that effect”

This book had everything. The sweet funny heroine who lives for the small moments and puts her passion in her work. The workaholic who learns to find passion again. And a mistake from the past coming back to threaten the small happiness they found.

One thing I really appreciated about this book was the the conflict. Sometimes these romance books throw something LiTtLe WiLd that doesn't really blend with the rest of the book. But this fucker had actual logic *whoaaaa* behind it and helped the story instead of being a random roadblock for characters to get over to the HEA

Also, another great part was the cute bromance that is the boy band,

“I love her.” The words come out stilted, foreign on my tongue. But they are the truest part of me.
“Of course you do,” Jax says with the patience of a father talking to an irritable toddler.”
“I love you too,” I blurt out.
And instantly regret it. My face burns as they all turn my way with varying degrees of shock in their expressions.
Rye gurgles on a laugh.
“Fuck,” I mutter. “That’s not… You know what I mean. You’re my mates.”
“‘In Whoville they say that the Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day,’” Killian drawls.
They all laugh.”

I honestly adored the group dynamic, I totally see why each character is (hopefully) gonna get their own book. They all so different and funny and the scenes of everyone together just picking on each other made me wanna join the friend group !! Definitely gonna be checking out the rest of this series but Sophie and Gabriel will always be a favorite

I loved this? I thought Idol was good but Managed blew it right out of the park. I could not stop reading, I started it late last night and stayed up till 3am before deciding I should probably just get some sleep and read the last 25% this morning. Which I did.
Sophie and Gabriel were amazing together and I loved the build up of tension throughout the book. The sunshine/grump dynamic is a favourite of mine to read in romance and Kristen Callihan did it so damn well with Sophie and Gabriel. I am not a fan of the word banter but their banter was witty and angsty and teasing and I loved reading about all of their interactions.
