The more information we have, the less we know. A good overview of why our current moment is so fucked despite all our technological advances.

I really struggled with this book. It seemed to lack a central thesis and even the anecdotes and examples within the chapters has little to do with one another. I had high expectations for this book but was thoroughly let down.

Revelatory, with an inventive meta-commentary network structure that subtly weaves his chapters into a linked whole that exposes the hidden horrors that unexamined automated algorithms have wreaked on our world.
Bridle finds brilliant examples to bring home the vastness of surveillance, financialization, philosophical nihilism, and just a bit too little a criticism of capitalism, to really make you examine the underlying structures of how you live.
It's a fascinating project that succeeds admirably at its stated goal, changing the way you think.
