What a disappointment! I’ve read this book twice now and it just doesn’t stand up to either The Mortal Instruments or The Dark Artifices.
The characters aren’t as interesting or compelling. It’s hard to like any of them except for Jem. And the idea of the clockwork creatures is interesting, but it seems to really move the story out of the Shadowhunter world. Our main characters aren’t off fighting demons, they’re fighting machines. It just doesn’t have the same feel as TMI.
I think that more sections from Will’s and Jem’s POV would really improve this book. So far, Will is just this huge jerk and I don’t see why Tessa is so drawn to him. Jem is the clear choice.

easy to read, and a fine setting + writing style. I HATED some of these characters and others felt underdeveloped (

I like it a lot more than the “City of Bones” series, but a feel like not a lot actually happened.

Damn this was so great! I seriously love the character development in this. All the fantasy and the romance aspects were extremely well done. I’ve already bought the second book! Can’t wait to read it!

Mein zweites Buch aus dem Shadowhunter-Universum (nach City of Bones) und ich muss sagen, es hat mir tatsächlich besser gefallen. Die deutsche Übersetzung habe ich letztes Jahr begonnen und fand ich ganz schrecklich. Darum habe ich mich an die Originalversion getraut und war damit auch gut unterhalten.

Ich finde die Figuren sind toll beschrieben, sie werden einem sehr klar. Die Geschichte ist spannend und hatte überraschende Twists. Ich bin gespannt auf die nächsten zwei Bände.
