Highly recommend to anyone striving for anti-racism and/or learn more about Australia’s history of racist government policies that are disguised as progressive. It really validated my experiences as a second Gen migrant and shed some light on why Australia seems to be priding itself on moving forward whilst still refraining from actual effective change in treatment of First Nations peoples, migrants, and refugees and asylum seekers.

Hage is at times humorous in his way of giving first hand accounts or interviews with different subjects which helps people of all backgrounds to understand and be engaged with the text. I am not a student of Anthropology but found this very easy to follow.
