This sequal of the Hunger Games got me from the start, and I wasn't able to stop reading it. Awesome book!

I really have no words to describe how fantastic this book was. I have kind of a hard time pulling myself out of it and separating fiction from reality. I keep thinking about what I would say to the characters if I could meet them. How I would react to the plot if I were a part of it. This book, this trilogy, is what real fiction writing is all about--the ability to pull in a reader to the point that the book haunts their very dreams. I don't know how many times I will be able to re-read these books, because I have become emotionally invested almost to the point of discomfort, but I do know that they will stick with me for the rest of my life, and I will insist that everyone I know read them at the earliest opportunity.
As a sequel, the middle of a trilogy, this really couldn't be any better. It is action packed and does a fabulous job of making the arch of the plot clear. This is where the world becomes bigger than you think it can, where the characters are thrust into situations so much bigger than themselves that it seems impossible that they will be able to stand up to the rich color of the setting and circumstances. But they do. I am twisted this way and that and I never really know where to put my feelings.
This book, just like the first one, is as entrancing, nail-biting, gut-wrenching, and heartfelt as the first one, and though I should probably take a break (and a deep breath), I am staring the conclusion, Mockingjay, immediately. I don't know if it is more like ripping of a band-aid or feasting on delicious food, but I have to get to the end of this saga as fast as I possibly can, reading in a sort of wild-eyed frenzy I am powerless to evade.

Rereading in anticipation for Sunrise on the Reaping. The middle book in a trilogy is such an awkward thing but Collins is so good at pacing the action. It also helps that the trilogy is complete, as I can’t imagine the frustration I’d feel if I was reading these on release and had to wait for the third book after this one.
