Pretty bland with the exception of the last two chapters, also has a design for Ougi that no other book in the series uses.

It is very easy to just dismiss this as just a collection of meaningless short stories, and I have seen many people do just that with the anime adaptation of this book. I was always torn on how the show handled to adapt it, on one hand I really liked the idea of taking a break from how serialized the story has become to bring it back to a style much closer to the beginning of the story, but I couldn't help but feel like it was still missing something. And after finally reading the book it's very clear that, yeah, it was literally missing a lot from its source material.
First off, the placement of Koyomimonogatari being much later in the show than it is for the books always seemed like a cool idea to me, since it felt so thematically meaningful, but after reading the book I realized how much of it served as an introduction and foreshadowing for the themes and storylines that would follow after, which is now totally missing in the show. And I'm not underplaying how prominent it is in the book, even Nisioisin's afterword is entirely about foreshadowing. So it is just bizarre to me now that all of that was just removed from the anime. But even outside of that, there is so much characterization, comedy, and heart that I never knew was in Koyomimonogatari. It definitely is one of the slowest entries in the series, and not every short story is on the same level of quality, but I was shocked by how much I ended up enjoying it! That being said, it does contain the usual Nisio-isms that make the series hard to recommend to other people
