My favorite classic novel

Many people much smarter than me have said intelligent things about this book. I thought the characters were better-drawn than P&P, but P&P still has my heart. Occasionally, though, I use an audiobook with classics to help me find the rhythm.  The audio copy I got from the library (read by Nadia May) was really well done. Unfortunately, some classics narrators kind of lose the meaning of longer sentences. That doesn't happen here, and I never lost track of speakers or events. If I had more commute time I might have just listened to the audio.

If set in the year 2024, Persuasion would be over in 2 pages. That’s what makes it so good. I just love Jane Austen and her many special characters (Elizabeth, Mary, and Sir Walter not included).

It was probably an interesting choice for me to start my Jane Austen journey with her final book, but whatever. Despite being an objectively pretty boring book, I enjoyed my time reading this. I liked the writing and Anne as a main character. I am more looking forward to reading Austen's more popular books now.
