There’s two things I love about memoirs: 1) Learning about someone’s life and 2) Learning about someone’s authentic self.

The hard thing about the second part is balancing the appreciation for someone showing you who they truly are and not actually liking that person.

I think the hold up for me is that Paris has been through a lot, but doesn’t always apply the empathy you would think she has. The specific item I’m thinking about is when she’s happy that a blackmailer ended up killing himself because, karma. I can understand the pain and hate towards someone who is blackmailing you, but I struggled to understand how someone who had been through so much couldn’t pull even the smallest amount of empathy towards someone who decided to take their own life. Is the problem that the book didn’t adequately explain the pain the blackmailer caused Paris? Or is the problem a straight lack of empathy?

Lack of empathy aside, the details Paris shares about her experience in the “troubled teen” schools is a lot to process and I’m so thankful she shared her experience. It’s something that I don’t know if I would have learned about outside of this memoir, and it’ll never cease to be mind blowing to me how prevalent abuse is.

Wow, wow, wow, wow.

I remember growing up when Paris was in the height of her young fame. I never disliked her but I didn’t get the whole baby voice dumb blonde thing. I had always been curious as to how if someone is that dumb how are they always perfectly where they need to be?

This is such an incredible inside look into Paris. As a woman who has struggled with her ADHD most of her life how raw and well educated Paris is on what is going on in her own body but also what is happening in the world at the same time was breathtaking. I literally couldn’t listen fast enough. I highly recommend the audiobook so you get the full Paris experience.

The things that Paris endured is heart wrenching, disturbing and also inspiring? To see how she’s processed much of her trauma and then chose to share it with the world in this way is absolutely breathtaking. She didn’t owe us this, but man did the world need it.

Please read this book. I’ve always even indifferent to Paris but was curious. This book touched me in so many ways I’m not even sure how else to put it. Just read (ideally listen) to it.

My curiosity of Marilyn Monroe led me down a DEEP rabbit-hole... I've read about the lives of Marilyn Monroe, Pamela Anderson, Britney Spears and now Paris Hilton.

Learning about the lives of these so-called "blonde bimbos" and discovering some DARK truths about Hollywood, Media, and what I believe to be a sinister mission aimed to continue perpetuating the myths against women. Using women as sex symbols for monetary gain and simultaneously turning the public against these women and each other; Convincing women that being a victim is their fault and burden to carry, among other un-truths...

It can safely be said, a woman's narrative in the public eye is NEVER her own.

Paris Hilton's memor imo, is explosive.

I was a teen at the time of Paris Hilton's pinnacle point in her partying career. I remember vividly seeing the media go frenzied for her "sex-tape" and her arrests... The Media had everyone convinced Paris Hilton was this one-sided spoiled heiress. The Media successfully poisoned the thoughts of men and women in all walks of life...

Comedians were comfortable trashing her.
Animation Studios were comfortable trashing her.
Magazines were comfortable trashing her.
Women, from everyday life, stay-at-home mom's, trashed her. (And that's the true tragedy, women being convinced it's okay and normal to hate on other women.)

We should be each other's advocates and voices; Instead jealousy and envy fueled by the Media, spreads hateful messages and false narratives about each other.

Why?? .........

Really emotional and at times funny read. I especially loved the writing format and it worked perfectly for me. I will definitely recommend the book and I loved learning more about such a extraordinary person.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Paris Hilton and to anyone who has never given a flying hoot about Paris Hilton. Admittedly, I fall into the latter category.

She has lived her entire life in the spotlight and has been judged globally. Yet at the same time, so much happened out of the public eye. I had no idea about the trauma she endured, the persona she created, anything about her friendships and romantic life, or her brand.

This book was a wonderful window into her life told by her.

Paris’s memoir has been on my radar for a while, so when January came around, fulfilling my tradition of reading celebrity memoirs felt like the perfect excuse to read it. The audiobook is narrated by Paris herself, which certainly amplified the reading experience.

It is important to note that this is a very heavy, and at times horrifying read. The main focus is around Paris growing up with undiagnosed ADHD and her traumatic experiences with the troubled teen industry. As an adult, one of Paris’s main focuses is on taking legal action to dismantle said industry, and it’s clear that the primary purpose of the memoir is to offer a written testimony of the abuse that takes place within these institutions and to raise awareness of the industry’s harm.

That said, this is not the only focus, and I found Paris’s story to be interesting, even if I don’t always agree with her views or think that she sometimes lacks nuance and awareness in her assessment of events. The writing style is particularly unique - there is a disclaimer at the start that explains her decision to follow her natural style of storytelling and thus try to mimic the thought patterns of ADHD.

On the whole I would largely recommend this memoir, although I’d heavily advise checking the content warnings to ensure that you’re prepared before you pick this up, as many of the scenes are quite graphic and detailed.
