Paris's story is truly harrowing. I loved listening to her tell her story and she has a very unique writing style.

I do wish she acknowledged the privilege she has more, as she used her existing privilege to springboard a lot of her life. She absolutely had terrible things happen but her story is different than other survivors because of her family's privilege.

Highly recommend as this was a super engaging read and gives a lot of insight to the congregate care system.

It's sad and unjust that Paris experienced the horrible things that she did. It was also hilarious when she wrote, "I love supporting a woman-owned small business" about shopping at Dollskill, the antiblack, art-stealing fast-fashion company. Hilton has faced great hardship, but she has also always had immense privilege--which she acknowledges--but such privilege and wealth automatically produces a level of ignorance and exploitation. Hilton and those in her circles are always going to put a positive spin on each other's exploitative escapades because it allows them to continue flourishing.

That all said, if you have ADHD or are a survivor of the troubled teen industry, or are a millennial who was big into pop culture in your youth, you'll probably find something to connect to in this book. It has a very conversational style that I'm guessing comes across even in the print version, stemming,as she identifies in the beginning of the book, from the ADHD-induced tendency to drift from topic to topic.

This was an interesting memoir. I wasn’t a legit fan of Paris before reading but I watched The Simple Life and always liked her. I think her fans will appreciate it even more than I did. It’s really harrowing what she went through and important she shared her experience. The voice takes some getting used to - she talks about having ADHD and you really follow the ADHD train of thought throughout the book, which… I get it, same. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it.

I went into this knowing next to nothing about Paris Hilton and I was more invested than I thought
