Fascinating. I was interested in the part of Paris’ story when she was in these terrible camps for children that were completely inhumane. I’m glad she’s doing the work to close those places down. The rest of the memoir I was less interested in but I’m also not her biggest fan. I think it’s meant for those who find her life something to look up to or find her ability to play up a character as ingenius.

What a powerful memoir. Paris Hilton shares a story of privilege, abuse, and girl power. I smiled at her quirky stories, cried when she shared her experience in the troubled teen industry, and appreciated when she acknowledged her privileged life. Many of us witnessed the media’s portrayal of Hilton in 00s - this memoir explains some behind the scenes of the scandals and headlines we remember. It was shocking to hear some details and heartbreaking to hear the toll it took on her mental health. In her words: “How do we not see that the treatment of It girls is the treatment of all girls in our society?” (Paraphrased). I have a new appreciation for her work as a female role model and businesswoman.

This memoir tells the life of Paris Hilton and narrated by Paris herself. It heavily details her experiences at multiple treatment centers for troubled teens. It is easy to understand why this would be difficult to talk about and why she didn't discuss it for so long. Perhaps even more disheartening is seeing the aftermath of this experience on Paris as she grew up. It is highly admirable that she is using her platform and making efforts to bring change and awareness to these kinds of programs. I am saddened and disgusted that Provo Canyon School has not been shut down. This memoir is honest and shows Paris in a much deeper form than many of us may know her. She doesn't shy away from discussing past scandals. She makes very important points surrounding consent and women's sexuality. Perhaps what surprised me the most is that Paris is a business woman! She definitely knows what she's doing when it comes to the business world and is not the character that she played that many may know her as from years past. I applaud her for her efforts to make change and I hope that she is healing. This memoir deals with many heavy subjects, and I recommend looking at trigger warnings prior to reading.

Wow. Poor Paris.

This book talks about her life, the good and the bad, and huge chunk of the book is about her time in Cedu. I’m not going to call it a school. It’s not fair to call it a school. It’s a place where parents sent the kids they were having trouble managing and thus was supposed to save them and get them back in line.
But I’m going to assume that most of the parents would never have considered sending their kids if they knew the atrocities that took place. The kids were abused (on every level you can think of). The kids were cut off from their families. And when they were finally released, either when they turned 18 or their parents ran out of money, they were so brainwashed that they couldn’t talk about it.

Paris spent two years of her life there. Two years trying to escape.

When she finally got out, she wasn’t even sure what being a regular teenager felt like anymore. And she had a lot of trouble forgiving her family.

Her time in Cedu majorly impacted her life going forward but she tells you throughout the book how she just wants to find her own happiness and success in life. She wants to know who she is and she won’t let that awful chapter of her life ruin her future.

And what happened at Cedu wasn’t even the first awful thing that happened to her.

In addition to all of this, she couldn’t even openly talk about any of it because it might hurt the Hilton brand. Oof. I think, partially because of this, Paris decided to rebrand herself as she wanted to.

I think Paris must be an incredibly strong person, she has a capacity for forgiveness that would be hard to imagine given what she went through, and I’ve always thought she was smarter then she wanted to let on. She has fun with her image.

This book was really heavy and really hard to read at times but I’d definitely recommend it. I think society has a tendency to be overly critical of public figures without knowing much about their real lives.

Paris’ experience at ‘reform school’ is on par with POW and Guantanamo Bay inmates. She’s lucky to be alive. Party on Paris, stay sliving 4🪩
