Twisted is the perfect title for this book.
Steve Cavanagh has fitted so many twists into the story that you are kept you on your toes thought the book.
I want to be very careful with my review so I do not spoil anything for a reader.
Twisted is very good at making you think the story is going in one direct and then it pulls the rug from under your feet. This is even done with the characters. This twist cause me to drop my iPad in surprise.
Top-notch writing, thrilling plot and interesting character. What more do you want in a crime thriller.
My rating for Twisted is 5 out of 5.

This is a book written on a very sensitive subject, attempted suicide but it is handled very well and keeps you wanting to carry on reading the book to find out what happens and who is behind it all. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and being back with DI Luc Callanach and DCI Ava Turner. These two work very well together but this story tests their friendship.
Stephen Berry is a tormented soul who is trying to attempt suicide but has picked a very public place to do it. Unfortunately a large congregates and watches him with the police arriving and friendly soul who comes to talk to him. He starts having doubts and is eventually talked into coming back to safety and staying alive. A week later he is found dead at the castle and DCI Ava Turner is there to investigate.
Its an intriguing story and keeps you guessing without giving much away. This book is very cleverly written with some descriptive writing covering Edinburgh, the counselloring centre that tried to help the people trying to commit suicide and the police procedures. Lots going on to keep you interested in the book and I didn't want to put it down. I do enjoy this series.

This series is SO GOOD!
Another cracking crime novel by Helen Fields - I can’t wait for the next one! This series quickly became one of my favourites, making Perfect Crime one of my most anticipated books of the year. I love that these stories are set in Edinburgh, as it’s one of my favourite cities in the world (yep, that’s Edinburgh castle in the background), and I get a little kick out of recognising place names as Luc and Ava move around the city. If you’re looking for a seriously dark, seriously addictive crime series with fantastic characters, this is it.

Loved this new book from Helen Fields! The relationship between characters have grown more intense and in spite of the complexities, I loved watching them trying to work it out. The crime was scarier than the previous books and I love how the author upped the psychological mind tricks with this book, making the killer more personal than in the prequels. Helen Fields has grown much as a crime writer since the start of the series.

3.5 stars.
This is the 5th book in the DI Callanach series but the first one i've read, although I never felt like I was missing too much so you can definitely dive straight in here.
This book begins with a man about to jump off a bridge. Stephen Berry is ready to end his life but then a counsellor arrives and helps talk him down, then one week later his body is found. At first all evidence points to him deciding to end his life, but there's some niggling doubts and when more bodies of previously suicidal people begin to show up questions start to arise. There's also another side-case going on at the same time, one that is more personal to Luc Callanach that I think must be related to a discussion held in a previous book, but everything is well explained.
I liked the relationship between Luc and DCI Ava Turner but I did feel it got slightly tiring at times with their back and forth. As i've only read this one book it didn't bother me too much but if i'd read them all and their relationship has been like this the whole time then I just know that would annoy me to no end.
This was definitely a dark and gritty novel, even quite gory at times, so it was totally to my taste in that regard. I did wish it was slightly more suspenseful at times, it was quite obvious to me from the beginning who the killer was which unfortunately took away a lot of the suspense aspect for me. Overall, despite me having a couple of small issues I did really enjoy reading this one and won't hesitate to pick up more from the series in the future.
