This novel!!!!! This one right here was without a doubt my most favorite novel of the entire series!!!
I wish I had a friend as exciting and full of life as Lady Vivian. She is most definitely my favorite female character of any of Candace Camps' novels. She had such a charming quality to her. I loved how much she enjoyed life. I enjoyed reading from her point of view. I loved how much she flounted the traditional conventions of the ton. I loved how she was able to get so easily and thoroughly under Lord Oliver's skin. I think she was the most well developed character of the entire Willowmere series.

I enjoyed seeing how much Lord Oliver's character developed over the course of the novel. He went from such a stiff, one dimensional character to a more relaxed, comfortable character. The arguments between him and Lady Vivian had me laughing the entire time. I loved the chemistry between these two. I loved how reluctant Oliver was to Jump into this mystery. I loved how reserved he was while Vivian just jumped headlong into it. They were a great pair. They balanced each other perfectly.

I was not expecting the ending of this mystery. The one who did it really surprised me. I never would have guessed that was the one at fault. It was amazing how Candace kept me guessing the whole time. I give 5 stars for a well rounded romance novel with the perfect mystery!

I so loved this novel. I could not put it down, and I was glad to have the characters involved be the focus of the story. The history between the main couple played well into their changing relationship and all of the issues inherent. The secondary couple involved my favourite Bascombe sister, Camellia, and her unfashionable antics. I actually fell for everyone in these two pairs just a little bit as the book went on. Add in the interesting mystery in the background, and while I was part right about the culprit, I did not see the ending coming. So points to Camp for fooling me.

After the disaster that was A Gentleman Always Remembers, I was eager to get to a book I knew I would love. And I did know I would love this book. From the beginning of this series, I knew Oliver and Vivian's book would be my favorite of the series. And it totally was. An Affair Without End was entertaining, exciting, intriguing, and romantic. Plus, it had just the perfect amount of mystery and intrigue to keep me interested in the shady crimes and subsequent investigation by Oliver and Vivian.

I also enjoyed the plot much more in this book than in the other two books of the series. Maybe it's because I enjoyed the characters more, but this plot captured my interest and held it throughout the whole book. The subplot was also more interesting to me. Not only because of the characters but because I actually got to experience their points of view, whereas there was none in the previous books.

Oliver was my favorite brother from the very beginning. Why, you ask? I will tell you...For all intents and purposes, Oliver is a staid, responsible, practically dull man. Somehow, that immediately attracted me. But he is also kind and caring, intelligent and honest. Damn if that isn't sexy as hell! I wanted to see Responsible Oliver undone by the vivacious, lively Vivian. Looked forward to it with a perverse sense of glee, actually. And I was not let down. I cannot express how much I love Oliver's character. Too awesome for words!

As with Oliver, Vivian was my favorite female character from the beginning. She was so different! She does not care about convention, does as she wishes, and was all-around entertaining. She was always funny and intriguing. Wherein some characters it would have annoyed me to no end that she never listened to convention--or Oliver--I found it is one of my favorite things about Vivian. She is unique among the ladies of the ton. Also, I love that she was a feminist. Not many authors of historical romance broach feminism during that time because it's not that well known that feminism was around way before the Seneca Falls Convention in 2848. So I always love when they do and accurately portray feminism in their characters.

The romance between Camellia and Gregory was something I really enjoyed. They were so cute and awkward and adorable together. They genuinely loved and cared for each other. Also, I loved getting Cam's and Gregory's points of view at times throughout the novel because it allowed me to get to know and love them even more. Also, it made me even more interested and in love with their romance.

I think this book was a beautifully entertaining end to the trilogy. I had rough times with the second despite my enjoyment of the first book, but neither can compare to An Affair Without End.

Favorite Quotes:
"Are you in much pain?"

She started to shake her head, then said, "A bit. I'm afraid I'm not accustomed to being punched."

(Oliver and Vivian, page 382)

"Yes, we're different, but it doesn't mean we cannot get along. We've managed to do it so far, haven't we?"

"But we've been in the grip of irrational lust!"

(Oliver and Vivian, page 384)

It looks like I'm in the minority, but I thought this book was a bit slow to start. However, I'm glad I stuck with it because it improved A LOT as I continued reading. In fact, I read most of the second half in one sitting because I didn't want to put the book down! I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Oliver and Vivian, but the secondary romance between Oliver's cousin Camellia and Vivian's brother Gregory almost stole the show. I really liked Gregory - he had some of the best lines in the book, especially during the scene when he encounters Camellia sneaking out of Oliver's house to meet her stepfather. The mystery of who was behind the jewel thefts was well developed, and I was completely fooled about who the villain was right up until the moment of reveal. Overall, while I may not have enjoyed this book as much as the first two in the trilogy, it was still an engrossing read and nice conclusion to the series. I have yet to be disappointed by a Candace Camp novel, and this was no exception. I look forward to seeing what she plans to write about next!

The daughter of a duke (10 points!) engages in an affair with a more-conventional earl while trying to solve some jewel thefts. Enjoyable beach read, because that it where I read it!
